What is AWANA?
Our AWANA Clubs are part of more than 40,000 AWANA clubs, which operate around the
world. The International Headquarters is in Streamwood, Illinois. These non-denominational
community clubs are open to all youth and have children attending from many different
churches. The acronym AWANA comes from the first letters of Approved Workmen Are Not
Ashamed (2 Timothy 2:15).

What do the kids do at AWANA?
An AWANA Club meeting consists of three parts: Game Time, Handbook Time, and Council
Time. Trained adults are involved in all aspects of our club.

Game Time – Children have fun participating in age-appropriate games on the AWANA
game circle. Every child is given the opportunity to participate and learn the importance of
working as a team.

Handbook Time – Children work one-on-one with their leader to complete their handbooks.
Memorization and understanding of key Bible verses are emphasized to show how to know
God and walk with Him.

Council Time – Everyone gathers together for singing, announcements, award distribution
and most importantly, a practical Bible message.

Who is AWANA for?
AWANA is offered for boys and girls ages 3 years old through 8th grade. Children must be
potty trained. Clubs are offered for different groups and ages.

Cubbies is the preschool program of AWANA and children must be at least 3 years old.
Bible-centered handbooks and club activities help your children begin to build a solid
understanding of the basics
of Christianity at an early age.

Sparks is the AWANA club for children in Kindergarten through Second Grade. It builds on
the material taught in our preschool club. The aim of the curriculum is to take youngsters a
step deeper into God’s Word while giving unsaved boys and girls regular opportunities to
hear the gospel and come to faith in Jesus Christ.

Truth & Training club is for third-grade through sixth-grade boys and girls and its name
reflects the passion of AWANA to teach the truth of God’s Word and to train them to follow
Christ in their daily lives.
